GeoFIRM supports best-in-class engineering models applied to meet a project’s local requirements. The latest technologies within the water resources and GIS industries make it possible to support data inventory, development, integration, modeling, and mapping in an open-architecture environment. While there are proprietary solutions that specialize in certain areas, we have invested in a standards-based, open architecture solution which ensures a scalable and flexible system.
At the core of GeoFIRM is a scalable ArcGIS/SDE geodatabase. This geodatabase supports industry-standard data modeling, such as ArcHydro, Interface Data Models (IDMs), such as for HEC-RAS, and the enhanced FEMA DFIRM database. This geodatabase supports major data initiatives, such as the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), and GIS toolsets such as GeoRAS. Dewberry extends these capabilities through innovative toolsets like automated hydrology and hydraulics, coastal engineering, and floodplain mapping. Ultimately, GeoFIRM can support real-time modeling and deliver "live models" to clients.
The traditional modeling barriers to seamlessly leveraging large terrain datasets have been hurdled. GeoFIRM engineering tools are designed to work optimally with ESRI Terrains. All terrain data can now be efficiently stored in a geodatabase, delivered visually through increasingly detailed pyramid levels, and geoprocessed at localized regions of interest.
