DATA MODELING
At the heart of GeoFIRM is a robust geodatabase. This geodatabase is designed to support industry-standard data models. These data models provide the structure for sharing and storing spatial data. ArcHydro, enhanced DFIRM database, and National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) are all supported by GeoFIRM.

Individual engineering model support is provided through Interface Data Models (IDMs). IDMs define the structure required to store input and output data for a given model. For example, GeoFIRM calls the HEC-RAS interface when modeling information needs to be added to a structure. When the modeler is finished, the results are seamlessly written back into the geodatabase. This ensures that the GIS modeler has all the information needed to generate the model input file at any time. Data integrity increases because the modeling input and output results always exist inside the geodatabase.
