PROJECT DELIVERY
GeoFIRM contains a set of powerful mapping tools that allow the user to:
-
Initiate a project
-
Perform the primary data production and management tasks
-
Create the final project deliverables.
The GeoFIRM tools used to create the deliverables allow us to efficiently create both database outputs and hard-copy outputs with just the touch of a button.
Create Panel MXD
The Create Panel MXD tool is a GeoFIRM function that allows us to generate ready-to-plot ArcGIS 9.0 Map Document files (.mxd files) that meet FEMA DFIRM specifications. The automated tool auto-generates the final map by loading all the relevant layers from the ArcSDE geodatabase, symbolizing them using predefined standard symbols, zooming and panning to the correct panel, and placing map marginalia elements for the map by querying the database. Each map panel is saved as a separate .mxd file so that they can be easily recalled and plotted.

Export DFIRM Data
One of the most important tools developed for the GeoFIRM environment is the ability to, at any time during the production process, create a DFIRM-compliant database. Because we are capturing spatial data and attribute data in an ArcSDE database which very closely mirrors the DFIRM specifications, we can easily export out a DFIRM database in just a few seconds for any study, regardless of where it is in the production process. The GeoFIRM export tool supports the creation of ArcView shapefiles, ArcInfo (export) files, and MapInfo files.

Export MXD
The GeoFIRM toolkit also supports the creation of the required rasterized FIRM deliverables. We can easily select the MXD document for a panel, and then create a variety of raster outputs using our GeoFIRM tools. Options for output include TIF format (for black and white DOQ-based FIRM panels), PNG format (for color DOQ-based FIRM panels), PDF format, and more.
Plot MXDs
The GeoFIRM toolkit also includes a batch plotting tool to facilitate mass production of plots. Using this tool, we can easily queue all the plots for a study at once, minimizing our plotting time.
